Since his first solo exhibition in the Cologne Simultanhalle (2005, see here), the Cologne-based Roland Gätzschmann not only in the Rhineland, always on the go . recently, he was under the title 'baroque' in the Berlin gallery SOX a positioned behind the window black and white area:
a moveable wall, papered with printed sheets of paper.
But juxtaposed identical prints added up - in the usual Gaetzschmannschen, seemingly perfect symmetry - no offset to a pattern of irregular hexagons, and formed only at first glance a coherent whole.
For there was a fluctuation: between symmetry and Deviation between surface and space. The pattern, suggestive of infinite variation tipped back in a rehearsal and took so created depth.
